Newly Diagnosed?
Adjusting to anything new is challenging. Anything we don’t know is ‘hard’; anything we do know, is ‘easy’.  Because you are unfamiliar with the gluten-free diet, it may appear to be difficult; but once you get used to it, it will be very manageable. You can still enjoy all of your favorite foods, just by making a few minor adjustments to the ingredients. By taking a few precautions, your life need not change.  Become an avid label-reader.  If you are preparing both gluten and gluten-free foods in your kitchen, take precautions to eliminate cross-contamination.  Check with your pharmacist to confirm that your medications are gluten-free. People make special requests all the time at restaurants, so when you go out to eat, don’t hesitate to ask that your entrée to be prepared a little differently. With practice and time, screening for gluten becomes second nature.

The gluten free diet is for a lifetime, 24 hours a day, and 7 days a week commitment. It involves a change in the way we interact with food, a change in the places we frequent, and a change in the way we approach much of life. There is hope and encouragement for those who make this commitment. You are not alone. There are many resources available.

Your health is not dependent on surgery, chemotherapy, medicine, or guessing. Natural health is in your hands and there are many resources for a full and enjoyable gluten free life.

Hopefully the Gluten Free Yellow Pages will allow you to see that your options are many and your resources plentiful.
